BESS Battery

A BESS Battery from S.C. Nordic provides your business the opportunity to:

- Earn money by participation on aFRR/PICASSO

- Provide you with back-up in case the power grid breaks down

- Be aggregated into a pool of devices, so we meet the 1MW capacity for the energy market, and potentially also 4MWh so we can tap into the capacity market 

It is 100% up to you how much capacity is reserved for backup and how much is allowed for PICASSO. The only condition is that  you must allow at least 25% of the capacity for us to engage in PICASSO.

The core kit from S.C. Nordic:

- EDGE2 controller with 4G

- 4G SIM card (part of our service package)

- Electrical switch board that contains output for the E18 installation, EDGE2, and a net-frequency counter

- Meatrol net frequency counter, with monitoring of the power load by the customer. Needed to ensure we do not break fuses, when   

we charge the battery, and potentially create down regulation by loadbanks.

- Breaker for island mode operations

- Controller for synchronization with the powergrid (from a black-out)

It is highly beneficial to also add a loadbank in connection to a BESS battery, as this improves the business case significantly.
